LongFileNames---ShortFileNames

Microsoft short filenames consists of an maximum of 8 characters before and 3 characters after the dot ( e.g. 12345678.abc ).
Long filenames are limited to 260 characters. The shorter the filename, the longer the path may be. Practically it would be good not to use filenames longer than 25 characters. Also the archiving of long filenames on old dos systems is very difficult. Never use Directory names, which are identically in the first 6 characters, because the correct copy between old Dos and Win9x can not be guaranteed.
